Beginning at the Beginning
Welcome! Let's set the record straight. I'm not a blogger. I'm just an old man with too much time on his hands sitting in his garage babysitting his outside dog during the unbearable desert heat, I set up a portable cooler in here and bring Luna in every afternoon til it cools down in the evenings. It can get rather boring after awhile so I thought I'd give this a try.
When deciding what to write about, I thought about my stint in the Marines or one of the three full careers I've had in my 65 years. Then I remembered that I'm not writing a memoir so I decided to write about the two things that really get my attention these days, Poker and Politics! I know they may seem to be two completely unrelated subjects, but in another sense, they are closely related as I think the Left and the Right play poker with each other all the time.
So if either one of these topics peaks your curiosity, feel free to subscribe or just pop-in now and then to check things out. I'm new to blogspot so if you have any input on page layout or anything else I can do to upgrade the pages, let me know. I'll start off soon with my first "official" blog about Poker and Politics!
I grew up in Mountainair NM. I'm 67. 4 Generations of my family raised in Mountainair. Now nobody is left in NM. I left 16 years ago.....now living in Kentucky. The last of my family just left as they were fed up with the homeless and illegals that were camping in parks in their neighborhoods. The last time I was in Albuquerque this summer to visit my father in an assisted living facility, I could not believe how it had gone to S#$t. Now that he's passed and the rest of my family is in Texas.....I doubt I ever make it back to NM. Sad. I chased a lot of your girls in HS. Did all my elk and deer hunting down by Magdalena. Owned a condo in Ruidoso and a cabin in Chama. I love the state. But it's being invaded.
ReplyDeleteNew Mexico has truly taken a turn for the worse. We can only hope things will get better.
ReplyDeleteBTW, we used to take day trips to Mountainair. Stop at the little Cafe at the beginning of town, have
lunch and a slice of the best apple pie in NM. Then on to the old Rosebud saloon for a beer and some pool.
Small world.
